The Modernist Society is a creative community dedicated to celebrating modernist architecture and design. With chapters in Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Huddersfield, Leeds, Liverpool, Sheffield, and Swansea, we organise city mooches, talks, film screenings and exhibitions; we publish books and magazines; we organise tours, talks, exhibitions, and events that celebrate modernism in our cities. Whether you're a curious explorer, design enthusiast, an architect, or someone who simply loves the buildings around you—this is a community for you.

Why Your Membership Matters
The Modernist Society is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company. We receive minimal public funding, so we depend on memberships, shop sales, and donations to keep going.
Right now, only 5% of people on our mailing list are members. If that doubled to just 10%, we could plan confidently, publish more ambitiously, and expand our chapter network to more cities.
We've been running for 15 years, organising hundreds of events, publishing dozens of magazines and books, and fighting to save important buildings. We want to do this work for decades to come—and your membership makes that possible.
