Are you a fan of 20th century/modernist architecture? Can you capture the essence of buildings through photography and concise texts? If so, we have a volunteer opportunity for you.
About Us: The Modernist Society is a not for profit social enterprise dedicated to celebrating and engaging people with twentieth-century architecture and design through publishing, events, exhibitions, and creative collaborations.
We want to increase our social media presence – in order to celebrate 20th century / modernist architecture in GLASGOW.
Role Description: Social Media Volunteer: As a Social Media Volunteer, you’ll play a crucial role in spreading awareness about our mission. Here’s what we’re looking for:
Skills and Experience:
- Competency in Social Media Channels: You should be familiar with platforms like Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
- Photography Skills: You don’t need to be a professional photographer but an ability to go out, identify and take pictures of featured buildings is essential.
- Research: Ability to research information about buildings and places.
- Writing: Ability to compose short engaging texts about buildings and places.
- Social media schedule knowledge: Familiarity with a social media scheduler is advantageous.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain Active Social Media Accounts: Establish and/or maintain our social media presence.
- Create Engaging Content: Research and develop creative content for various social media channels.
- Community Engagement: Identify opportunities to connect with local community.
- Use social media to promote the services, activities, and achievements of The Modernist Society.
- Keep up to date with The Modernist Society events and news, and choose what to promote through our social media feeds.
- Time required – 1-2 hours per week (very flexible).
Support we provide

- Training on aspects of the role.
- On-going support with an allocated staff member.
- Opportunities to become involved in other The Modernist Society services and activities.
Location & Hours
Home-based. This is a flexible volunteering opportunity.
