Thursday 15th August

5.45pm for a 6pm start until approx 8pm

Meet outside 4 Angel Square, Miller St, Manchester M4 4FW

Inspired by our 2023 book GMC21 , which looked at Manchester's 21st century architecture, we are holding a series of summer evening walks focussing on individual architectural practises body of work and led by an architect from the relevant firm.

The fourth and final walk (for this year) is dedicated to the work of SimpsonHaugh.

Perhaps no other architects have (re)shaped the Manchester skyline than SimpsonHaugh. They are perhaps now known for the their soaring skyscrapers but there is more to them than that. There will, of course, be tall buildings but SimpsonHaugh have also built transport infrastructure, office buildings, cultural buildings and even the odd modest historic building conversion.

From the cloud reaching Deansgate Square to the humble Atlas bar, with Shudehill Interchange, URBIS, Number One Deansgate , Spinningfields and Hilton Tower in between (plus others).

The walk will be led by David Green and Nick Fleming -  partners at SimpsonHaugh who both have 25 years at the firm.

This is a unique opportunity to not only see some good contemporary architecture but hear about the background and rationale for the projects.
