Manchester Mooch with Black Country Type - 11th March 2023
Stange day in Strangeways
Saturday 11th March
Meet 1.00 at the Modernist shop 58 Port Street Manchester
Mixing Modernism Mooching and snapping with special guest Black Country Type.
Black Country Type is the work of artist Tom Hicks.
In this ongoing photography project he explores the post-industrial landscape of the West Midlands, focusing on words, typography, handmade lettering and signs.
His work has been published and exhibited widely, most recently in the photobook If Destroyed Still True and the photo poetry book The Dereliction - Hercules Editions.
Manchester meets Wolverhampton outside the disused Ice Palace whilst Marks meets Spencer.
Post-war industrial architecture ends up in limbo and the rag trade starts to look ragged.
Special appearance by Mr Joe Sunlight and his amazing Deco delights
