London is one of the best cities in the world for modernist architecture, but its modernism is eclectic and as Ian Nairn wrote, the city does not make a display of its best things.
Join a walking tour to discover those best things in two parts of London rich in modernism of all kinds, from the expressive, early 20th-century optimism of BBC Broadcasting House and the Riba headquarters to the cool high modernism of the former headquarters of textile company Sanderson - and find out where some of London's most celebrated modernists spent their time.
Helen Barrett is a journalist specialising in design, architecture, visual art, popular culture and modern life. She writes for the Financial Times, the Telegraph, the Guardian, the Critic and others. She is the former editor of the FT's House & Home section and a founder of
London Modern, a conference celebrating London's modernism.
