For over fifteen years the Modernist Society has been exploring under-appreciated 20th century architecture and design. Through publications and exhibitions, as well as walks and tours we have explored and championed modernist and brutalist architecture. The Sheffield Modernist Society, one of our local chapters, will lead us on a meander starting at the former site of The Hole in the Road and up to the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, taking in many architectural gems en route.

This event will be guided but with the help of the app, you'll be able to mooch amongst modernist delights at your own pace, too. The walk will last approximately two hours and will feature at least one of Sheffield's seven hills. Those of you at home or afar can follow the route from wherever you are. Whether you're a fan of Bauhaus, Brutalism or anything in between, you'll find something to inspire and delight you on this tour.

[this tour - free but for pre-booked ticket holders only]

This event is being presented as part of Heritage Open Days 2025.
