Stockport Stroll An Architectural Walking Tour
Saturday 4th April | Meet at 1.00pm outside The Plaza
Come and discover Stockport's architecture on this friendly guided walk through the town centre.
We'll start with a peep inside the magnificent Plaza Super Cinema, one of the finest surviving examples of Art Deco grandeur in the North West. From there, we'll stroll beneath the arches of the Viaduct and take in the brand new Transport Interchange before weaving through Merseyway — where you'll get up close to Alan Boyson's remarkable concrete screen wall, a piece of public art most people walk past without a second glance.
We finish at the striking Stopford House, a bold statement in civic architecture that's well worth a closer look.
NB: Walk will be approximately 2 hours in length - this is an outdoor event and is at the mercy of the weather, please dress accordingly, and take extra care with road traffic and all those other on street hazards!
