Save Smallbrook Ringway Centre t-shirt
In November 2022, Birmingham Modernist Society, Brutiful Birmingham, Zero Carbon House and Twentieth Century Society launched a counter proposal for the future of Smallbrook Ringway Centre.
The developers plan to demolish the whole site to be replaced, over an extended period, with three residential towers up to 56 storeys tall and over 1800 apartments. We don't think this is appropriate or sustainable in terms of scale or density, and risks losing an important post-war building.
"We believe Smallbrook Ringway Centre should be retained and repurposed on grounds of this heritage as well as the climate emergency - we can no longer afford to accept "business as usual" if we are to meet local, national and global climate targets.
It seems like lots of you agree. There were around 150 objections to the plan and 100 supporters joined our public meeting back in February 2023. We've had press coverage in the Guardian, Birmingham Post, Architects' Journal, and even Private Eye! You can read more about our plans at here
Show your support and spread the word by wearing one of our campaign t-shirts, featuring a concrete light sconce graphic on the front and interpretation of the cast concrete facade panel on the back." Birmingham Modernist Society
The t-shirts are Gildan Softstyle a classic style T-shirt with a soft-touch finish.
