What does the humble car park tell us about a city?

This tour aims to explore the evolution of car parks in the city of Manchester, from the humble gravel-covered bomb sites of the post-war years to the spiralling concrete ramps of the 1960s and the aluminium and Cor-ten clad structures of the 2000s.

The tour will start at 12:00 PM at the modernist shop located at 58 Port Street. It will cover a range of car parks, from the mundane to the downright bonkers.

NB: Walk will be approximately 2 hours in length  - this is an outdoor event and is at the mercy of the weather, please dress accordingly, and take extra care with road traffic and all those other on street hazards!
