(A walking tour of Fitzrovia (to celebrate the launch of Modernist Fitzrovia tour on the Modernist mobile app).

From art deco flourishes to sleek modernism, from brutalist outcrops to the built expression of Harold Wilson’s “white heat of technology”, Fitzrovia compresses an improbable amount of twentieth-century ambition into a few walkable streets.

The tour looks beyond individual set-pieces to one or two surviving post-war streetscapes - unshowy ensembles that capture their moment but are quietly disappearing.

Be warned. Things change fast in Fitzrovia. Blink and you might miss it. So come along now.

NB: Walk will be approximately 2 hours in length  - this is an outdoor event and is at the mercy of the weather, please dress accordingly, and take extra care with road traffic and all those other on street hazards!
