Sunday 7th November  - Ghosts of Liverpool's Walkways

Talk at Ship and Mitre first and then a city centre walk

13.00 onwards

From the 1960s onwards Liverpool’s planners and architects joined forces to build “streets in  the sky” so pedestrians could stride through the city on bridges and walkways without their feet touching the ground.

Most people will tell you the walkways were all pulled down in the 1990s. But there are plenty of traces left if you know where to look - and Alistair Houghton will take you on an alternative tour of the city to look at the ghosts of its streets in the sky.

Join us for an illustrated talk at The Ship and Mitre and then afterwards a walk around the sites of former and remaining walkways

Alistair Houghton is a Liverpool-based journalist who is editor of national news website BusinessLive and a former business editor at the Liverpool Echo

Talk in the upstairs room of The Ship and Mitre 133 Dale St, Liverpool L2 2JH from 1pm for approx 1 hour and then a two hour walk around Liverpool city centre .

Sunday 7th November 2021

*The talk is in the upstairs room of the Ship and Mitre and is up a flight of stairs so please bear this in mind if you have mobility problems and sadly this may mean you cannot attend this part of the event. Also bear in mind the walk element of this event is in November and will obviously be outside so please dress accordingly*
