Mersey Tunnel / Herbert Rowse Event 26/10/26
A Saturday afternoon event presented by Liverpool Modernist Society to celebrate the reinstatement of the 'lost' pylon at the entrance to Queensway tunnel.
We shall hear from Twm Harris-Davies of Donald Insall Associates, the conservation architects responsible for the rebuilding of the pylon and refurbishment of the toll booths.
We shall also hear from Prof Ian Jackson (tbc) and Dominic Wilkinson of the University of Liverpool who will look further into the work of the original tunnel architect Herbert Rowse.
The location for event, The Ship & Mitre pub, is perfect because you can literally see the tunnel entrance from the front window but the function room also has a lovely period feel to it.
Unfortunately the room is up some stairs, with no lift, so this event is not suitable for people with restricted mobility. Apologies for that.
**NB we do not send out tickets for these events - your name will be added to an attendee list. Refunds can only be offered for cancellations made up to seven days before the event**
