Modernist Swansea Walking Tour – 26/07/25

Saturday 26th July 2025

10am - Start at Harry Everington concrete mural, Central Clinic, Orchard Street.

Tour will last about 2 hours, no uphill walking, all on flat.

End - Kenneth Martin 'Kinetic Movement' sculpture Swansea Leisure centre.

Post tour - you are welcome to have refreshments / lunch at The Kardomah cafe.

This walking tour will highlight the rebuilding of a bombed-out Swansea town centre, through the early 1950s town planning of Ernest Morgan and the styles involved that makes Swanea unique.

Taking in modernism, municipal, brutalism, fixtures and fittings, you will be able to piece together the story of Swansea’s centre square mile. 

Led by Catrin James of Modernist Swansea who knows the town inside out.

NB: Walk will be approximately 2 hours in length  - this is an outdoor event and is at the mercy of the weather, please dress accordingly, and take extra care with road traffic and all those other on street hazards!
