25.11.23 - 26.11.23
the modernist returns to the Bound Art Book Fair at the Whitworth Art Gallery.
the modernist society will once again be exhibiting at the Bound Art Book Fair this year on the weekend of 25-26th of November and we have plenty of new publications to show you including a revival of Richard Brook's manchester MODERN, the comprehensive guide to twentieth century architecture in Manchester. We bring ourselve up to date with GMC21, a guide to contemporary architecture in Manchester and Salford and we present our ever popular calendar by Steve Marland - this year featuring 12 Car Parks. These will be on sale alongside our quarterly magazine and plenty more photobooks and zines that we have published over the past year or so - and we might even bring a badge or two.
The fair will also feature dozens of local and international publishers, artist presses and collectives, as well as a free public programme of talks, workshops and parties.
Bound Art Book Fair's mission is to provide a platform for a diverse and international range of projects and exhibitors to share their work and reach new audiences, with a particular focus on those from the North of England. 'We build and sustain communities around print publishing practices whilst exploring the potential for expanded forms of publishing that engage or interact with performance, music, sculpture, fashion, moving image and activism.
The Whitworth Art Gallery is family friendly, autism friendly, and fully accessible. There are assisted toilet facilities and gender-neutral toilets. Wheelchairs, hand-held portable stools and ear defenders are available for public use. The Grand Hall, which hosts our workshops, is fitted with hearing loops. There are baby changing areas and a family room.
