Talks

Between October 2022 and March 2023 we initiated a series of evening talks, facilitated with the generous provision of a venue by BDP (Manchester).

Speakers and topics included:

Gavin Elliot (BDP) - three listed buildings designed in the 1960s by BDP. [Preston Bus Station, Halifax Building Society HQ, Leeds Bank of England].

Caterina Benincasa-Sharman (University of Huddersfield) - the Festival of Britain in York and Liverpool.

Elain Harwood (Historic England) - Brutalist architecture in Britain and her book Brutal Britain.

Owen Hatherley (Author) in conversation with Phil Griffin - on his book Modern Buildings in Britain.

Esther Johnson and Christopher Marsden - the public sculpture of Alan Boyson.

Ewan Harrison (University of Liverpool) - Kingsway Stores and the Ends of Empire in West Africa
